Gerard M. Joy, age 62 of Southbury, passed away peacefully at his home on February 15
after a courageous battle with ALS.
Gerard know as “Rod” was born January 1, 1955 in Waterbury, the son of the late Edward and Gertrude (Casey) Joy. He attended Kennedy High School and Waterbury State Technical College. He was a corrections officer in Cheshire and Newtown for 23 years.
Rod was an antique clock enthusiast, especially cuckoo clocks. He enjoyed repairing them and bringing them back to life. His greatest joy was spending time with his family on trips to Disney World. He also loved muscle cars, was a proficient mechanic, and was quite knowledgeable about them.
Rod will be sadly missed by his family and all who knew and loved him.
Rod is survived by his wife of 32 years, Lisa (Stanley) Joy; his daughter Heather C. Joy of New Hartford, and his son Michael Joy of Waterbury. Three brothers, Edward P. Joy and his wife Wanda of
North Franklin, Michael F. Joy and his late wife Yvonne, of Clinton, Francis Joy and his wife Laura of Mountain City,
Texas and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are Wednesday February 22 from 5-7PM, at Munson Lovetere Funeral Home
