Margaret W. (Watson) Mahon

Margaret “Peggy” Watson Mahon died peacefully at home in Woodbury, CT at the age of 94. Peggy is survived by her husband of 74 years, John “Jack” Leon Mahon, Jr.; her eleven children; John Mahon (Donna), Kristin Mahon (Harvey Lipsky), William Mahon (Pamela), Margaret Mahon, Robert Mahon, Patricia Mahon, Kathleen Mahon Bachelier (Xavier), James Mahon (Kim-Mai), Peter Mahon (Lisa), Elizabeth Mahon York (Andrew), Barbara Mahon Ryan (David) and eleven grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her first grandchild, William “Willie” Mahon of Woodbury, CT. Peggy was born in 1923 in Passaic, NJ to John and Margaret Rose Watson. She graduated from Passaic High School in 1940, where she was an active member of the Revera Ex Lepa Sorority. She married Jack, her high school sweetheart, in 1943 at the height of WWII. Jack returned to Passaic from the war in 1945, where the two lived until 1973, before moving to Woodbury.  Peggy’s home was open to all, filled with laughter, kindness and generosity and always crowded with the extended family and friends who found their way to her dinner table.  Peggy was a unique individual who loved her husband, home and family. She was often heard saying, “If I could do it all over again, I wouldn’t change a thing.” Peggy loved beautiful antiques, animals and the democratic process, and she had a lifelong passion for politics.  Nothing brought Peg more joy than lively conversation and a good party.

Family and Friends are welcome to gather on Sunday, May 28, 2017 at 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at, 19 Main Street, New Milford, CT for a Celebration of Life.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the VNA Northwest, Inc. of Litchfield CT. The family would like to thank all the caregivers for their kindness, care and dedication
