Sophie J. (Ploch) Belko, 87, passed away on Jan. 16, 2018, at Waterbury Hospital with family by her side.
Born on April 17, 1930, Sophie was the youngest child of the late Michol and Agnes (Matula) Ploch. She was the widow of Harry A. Belko, to whom she was married for 44 years.
Sophie lived most of her life in Oxford, where she attended a one-room schoolhouse and graduated from Seymour High School. She worked for several companies during her career, doing secretarial work. A long-time parishioner of St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Oxford, Sophie enjoyed flower-arranging, crocheting, baking and polka dancing.
Sophie is survived by nephews Peter Ploch, of Cheshire, and Michael Ploch, of Oxford; nieces Diane Ploch, of Oxford, and Joan Zukauskas, of Southington; sisters-in-law Jean Ploch and Pat Ploch; four grandnephews, two grandnieces, and a number of cousins and friends. She was predeceased by brothers John Ploch, Louis Ploch and Joseph Ploch.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, Jan. 22, at 11 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 733 Oxford Rd., Oxford. There are no calling hours. Contributions in Sophie’s memory may be made to St. Thomas the Apostle Church or a charity of your choice.
