Jeanne A. (Zarnowski) Meddick died Friday, December 23, 2016 at her home in Mansfield Center, CT at the age of 69. Jeanne was born on October 1, 1947 in Norwalk, CT to Isabel and Eugene Zarnowski. She grew up in Weston, CT, graduating from Staples High School in 1965. She attended the University of Connecticut in Storrs, CT where she received her Master’s degree in Education. Jeanne was a member of Delta Zeta and distinguished herself on the college campus, where she was chosen to be the University's Greek Week Queen, and as Miss October 1966 of the 1966-'67 Calendar Girls. In 1968, Jeanne was named Bermuda’s Floral Pageant Queen.
Jeanne was an elementary school teacher for Tolland Public Schools for 21 years. Through her work, she touched many lives, and the children gave her life great meaning and joy.
Following her retirement, she enjoyed traveling, her favorite destination being Falmouth, MA. She also volunteered at Windham Hospital, and she was a proud member of the CT MG Club as she loved classic cars. Jeanne will be greatly missed by her children, friends, and extended family.
Jeanne is survived by her two children, Rebecca Vanacore (husband Stephen) and Mark Meddick, and her brother, Peter Zarnowski (wife Cheryl).
In keeping with her wishes, there will be a Funeral Mass at St. Patrick Church, 511 Main Street, Falmouth, Massachusetts on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at 11:00 AM. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be sent to the Covenant Soup Kitchen (covenantsoupkitchen.org).
