Audrey (Phillips) Bliven

August 25, 1924 ~ February 25, 2017 (age 92) 92 Years Old

Audrey Phillips Bliven – 92, Middlebury, CT (formerly of Woodbury and Bethlehem, CT) passed peacefully into heaven on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at Middlebury Convalescent Home. Predeceased by her husband Jack Glendon Bliven, Audrey was the oldest daughter of the late Algernon and Beatrice (Taylor) Phillips born on August 25, 1924 in Waterbury. Audrey grew up and attended schools in Watertown, CT, where she met her husband Jack. They married on March 13, 1943 and later moved to Woodbury where they raised three sons. Over the years Audrey worked with her family at Phillips Diner and did housecleaning. Audrey loved spending time with her family and was always one to socialize—making conversation wherever she went. She adored her church family at Community Chapel in Southbury, could often be seen walking throughout her neighborhood, and was a loyal patron of Nick’s Country Kitchen where she was known as their “American Grandma.” Audrey is predeceased by her sister Janice (Phillips) Anderson of Woodbury, brother John Phillips of CA, and sister-in-law Madelyn—late wife of her brother Edward “Bud” Phillips currently of Woodbury. She is survived by her three sons: Jay and his wife Joyce of SC, Craig and his wife Debby of Woodbury, Glenn and his wife Ellen Knudsen of Woodbury and SC; five grandchildren: Jack Bliven and his wife Suzanne of Waterbury, Kristen (Bliven) Stone and her husband Matthew of SC, Meredith (Bliven) Heiser and her husband Dan of NC, Brett Bliven and his wife Julie of West Hartford, and Matthew Bliven of NC; five great grandchildren: Bryce and Tyler Stone, Ryan and Charlie Heiser, and Lily Bliven; as well as several nieces and nephews. The family wishes to extend their sincere appreciation to the nurses, physicians, CNAs, and medical staff at Middlebury Convalescent Home for their compassionate care for Audrey in her time of need. To honor Audrey’s memory, and in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Building Fund at Community Chapel, 122 South Pomperaug Avenue, Woodbury, CT 06798. A private graveside service will be held by the family, as requested by Audrey. Munson Lovetere Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
