Delphine L Claussen

Danbury - Delphine L. Claussen, a resident of Ridgefield, passed away on Monday, January 1 at the age of 86 years old. She was surrounded by loving family and health care givers at the Regional Hospice Center in Danbury.

Born in Grand Forks, ND and raised in Minnesota, Del eventually moved to Connecticut where she spent most of her life and raised her children. After a nine year residency in her beloved Palm Desert, CA. she returned and eventually retired from Sikorsky Aircraft as an administrative assistant to the Middle East Programs. Ridgefield became her final home for the last 20 years.

She loved her years in Ridgefield and was involved with many organizations in the community. She was a devoted volunteer at " The Thrift Shop" and a member of the ladies 9 and 18 hole golf leagues at Ridgefield Golf Course. Along with playing in bridge groups, and bowling she enjoyed activities at Founders Hall such as tap dancing, excersize class and watching afternoon cultural movies. Mom was an enthusiastic traveler and loved to go anywhere, anytime.

Del was pre deceased by her former husband Bill and her loving son Paul. She is survived by her 3 daughters and their husbands Cathy and Tim McMullin of Woodbury, Heidi and Dave Smith of Clayton, NY and Billie Sue and Dale Hollingsworth of Wilton. She also leaves behind her adoring 12 grandchildren and 3 great grand children. Her passion and love for animals and for the game of golf has been passed on to each and every one of her grand children.

Thank you to all the health care providers at Praxair Center for Cancer and Regional Hospice in Danbury for the compassionate care they provided Mom.

A private burial will take place in the early spring. Munson Lovetere Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangments.
