Obituary

In Loving Memory of Wendy Davis Merli (1956-2023)

Wendy Davis Merli, a devoted advocate for animals and nature, left us on September 1, 2023, at the age of 66. She was born in Waterbury, raised in Morris, and resided in Harwinton. Her legacy of love, compassion, and respect for all living creatures will forever inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her.

Wendy was not only a loving mother and a thoughtful grandmother but also a steadfast partner who shared an unbreakable bond with her husband, Robert (Bob) Merli. Their love story was one of unwavering support and companionship that served as a source of inspiration to all who had the privilege of witnessing it.

As a mother, Wendy embraced her role with wholehearted dedication, nurturing her daughters Jennifer Merli Schneider, Amy Lynn Merli, and Victoria Betty Merli with boundless love and care. Beyond her role as a mother, Wendy's journey into grandmotherhood brought her immeasurable joy. Her cherished grandchildren, Tallulah, Blake, and Ashley, held a special place in her heart, and her love for them knew no bounds.

Wendy's love for her husband, Bob, was the cornerstone of their life together. In addition to her nurturing family roles, Wendy found joy in tending to her gardens. She also cherished the freedom of motorcycle rides and had a talent for baking in the kitchen. Wendy's presence was a beacon of warmth and hospitality.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edgar and Betty Davis, and her brother, Stephen Davis. She leaves behind her husband, children, grandchildren, her sister Holly Hughes, and brother Alan Davis, along with their families, who will continue to honor her memory.

In honor of Wendy's life and her passion for celebrating the beauty of the world around us, there will be funeral services at Munson-Lovetere on Friday, September 8th, at 10 am, followed by cemetery services at 11 am. All those whose lives were touched by Wendy are warmly invited to join and share their memories.

As we gather to remember her, let us find solace in the memories we shared and strive to carry forward her legacy of compassion for all living things. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Humane Society International or Save the Chimps in Wendy's name, to further the causes that were dear to her heart. Wendy's light will continue to shine through the positive impact she made in the world, reminding us of the beauty of a life well-lived.
