Susan Veronica Oczkowski

Susan Veronica Oczkowski, 66, born to the late Edward and Agnes (Prokop) Oczkowski, ascended into heaven in the early morning of December 18, 2021 at Waterbury Hospital.

Born in Waterbury, on February 26, 1955, she grew up in Oxford. She graduated from Seymour High School, class of 1973, where she played on the “first” women’s softball and basketball teams in the history of Seymour High under “Coach” Elaine (Biercevicz) Piazza. Then, after several years of devotion to Cottage 35 at Southbury Training School, she graduated from Johnson & Whales College in Rhode Island, after traveling to Europe learning the culinary experience and enjoying life. As an Executive Chef, she worked for the Marriott Corp. in Connecticut and New Jersey’s Judicial Branch.

Susan was a member of the Apostolic Mission Church of our Lord Jesus Christ in Bridgeport, loving and praising our Lord Jesus Christ. Susan enjoyed reading her Bible, cooking, painting, calligraphy and singing, most of all loving her family and friends.

Besides her parents, Susan was pre deceased by her brother “Little Edward” Oczkowski. Susan is survived by her brother Mark Oczkowski and his wife Patty, her sister Debra Oczkowski and her loving partner, Robert Sautter, all of Oxford, her sister Kathy Joy Gramolini and her husband Gordon of Seymour, her nephew Matthew Oczkowski and wife Molly of San Antonio, Texas and Luke Oczkowski from Seymour. Susan also leaves behind several wonderful cousins, her Aunt Nancy and her lifelong friends; Melissa, Jean, Roz and her special church friends.

Susan was beautiful, inside and out and she will be sorely missed. Near her end here on earth, she removed her mask, waved, smiled and said “I love you all.”

Due to the COVID outbreak, a graveside service will be held at the Southford Cemetery, RT 67 in Oxford, at a later date.
