Ronald Roncarti Obituary

Ronald Roncarti, 79, from Southbury, CT, passed away on Monday March 1, 2021 at the Newtown Health and Rehab Center with family by his side.

He leaves his wife, Donna (Davies) Roncarti, the love of his life, after 58 years.  His children Karen (Roncarti) and husband Christopher Lamy, Michael Roncarti, and life partner Kimberly Jones, Robin (Roncarti) and husband Eric Schreiber will all miss him dearly. Karen, Michael, and Robin remember the ‘family fun’ they regularly ‘enjoyed’ growing up, such as taking the dilapidated blue van to the grain store, planting the massive garden each Spring, and especially the morning he woke up and said: “Kids, today we’re gonna build a duck pond for mom!”

His grandchildren, Samantha Lamy, Jamie Lamy, Seth Schreiber, and Hope Schreiber grew up surrounded by his love and rich sense of humor.  He taught them the value of hard work and the reward of it.  Grampa happily gave his time, wisdom, advice, and grudgingly, his Oreo’s.  He loved each one for who they were and avidly followed their sport interests, academics, and careers.  He was immeasurably proud.

Ronald was born the seventh son on April 22, 1941 in Waterbury Hospital, to the late Amedeo Roncarati and Clementina (Falavena) Roncarti.  He is predeceased by his brothers James, Alfred, Herbert, Henry and sister-in-law Nancy.  He is survived by brothers Robert and wife Barbara of Kentucky, Raymond of Texas and sister-in-laws Irene, Dolly (Rose), and June.  He leaves many nieces and nephews that he loved dearly.

Ronald learned his extremely strong work ethic from both his mother and six brothers.  His first work experience was following in his brothers footsteps taking over their paper route for the Republican American.  While attending Wilby High he was a supervisor at Plastiglide.  Soon after graduation he proudly served with the US Army Reserve 76th Division. He then concentrated on his career and was most proud of the 30 plus years he spent at Critikon, part of the Johnson & Johnson family in Southington. When he retired he was the Manager of Manufacturing.  While there he and his team won the coveted Shingo Prize and journeyed to Japan to collaborate on the Kaizan process.  The award, based on continuous improvement, fit him perfectly.  He always strived for perfection.

“A la Familia” was one of Ron’s favorite sayings.  When he journeyed to Italy and was able to find his relatives in Renazzo it meant the world to him.  Osten, Ermellinda, Andrea and the entire family enriched his life beyond measure.

A word needs to be said about how important friends were to Ron.  They were his other family.  He was extremely grateful for the wonderful friends he made throughout his life.  The lifelong friendships of David and Sandra beginning in their school days, to the Bartkies that he met in Roxbury, and so many that he worked and laughed with at Critikon.  He considered himself a very blessed man.

Ron had numerous interests throughout his life. He was a fanatic bowler participating in no fewer than 4 leagues weekly at one point; he coached both Roxbury Little League and later Babe Ruth, and was passionate for all types of music especially Country and Blue Grass. He was a lifelong Yankees fan like his mother and loved cheering for the UConn Women’s basketball team.

To distill and capture Ron into a few lines is impossible but we can say he was and continues to be admired, respected, and forever loved.  We will continue to remember him with our laughter and memories.
