On Tuesday, April 27, 2021, Paul Edmund Pollock, 79, loving husband and father of five children, passed away peacefully at his home in Woodbury, CT. Paul was born on December 11, 1941, in Freeport, NY, to the late Francis J. and Irene G. (Costello) Pollock. Raised in Merrick, NY, Paul attended Chaminade High School and then the University of Notre Dame, before marrying the love of his life, Cynthia.
After college, Paul joined the Navy and served two tours in Vietnam as a member of the UDT/SEAL program. He then received his law degree from the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana. He loved practicing law and did so for over 45 years in Connecticut, and was a member of The American College of Trial Lawyers. In his professional life, he was highly successful and was well respected by peers and clients. Paul was not known for loquaciousness, but when he did speak, those around him stopped and listened intently, knowing that the words were genuine, compassionate, and profound.
While proud of many accomplishments, his family was his fountain of life, love, and inspiration. Paul and Cindy made their home for many years in Newtown, CT, where they raised their children. Paul held a deep love for them, and no words can capture adequately what his wife, children, and grandchildren meant to him. Their hope is that he left this world knowing how much they loved him and how much he greatly impacted their lives.
He is survived by his wife Cynthia, their five children, Amy (Carl), Jeremy (Andrea), Rebecca, Amanda (Mark), and Sarah (Blake), their beloved grandchildren, Benjamin, Olivia, Mattingly, and Jackson, his brother, Alan (Vera), and his family, and the families of his late brothers, Francis, John and Robert.
During the last years of his life, Paul was afflicted with Primary Progressive Aphasia, a form of frontotemporal dementia. The family has donated his brain, through The Brain Support Network, in hope that even in death, Paul can continue to help others, just as he did throughout his life.
To honor Paul, please consider donating to The Brain Support Network (https://www.brainsupportnetwork.org/donate/) PO Box 7264, Menlo Park, California 94026, which supports research into the causes, treatments, and cures for neurodegenerative disorders, including Primary Progressive Aphasia.
Paul left this world, embraced by his wife and children who loved him to death. And it is with that loving thought that this obituary ends.
