Patricia “Trish” Sobolewski, 82, of Southbury, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2022, at Regional Hospice of Danbury, Connecticut, surrounded by her loved ones. Trish was born in New York City to Ilarion Bobrovich and Sophia Paris Bobrovich on February 22, 1940.
She was a graduate of Hunter College and spent many years teaching in the NYC Public School System before moving to Morris, Connecticut, where she ran the Bantam Lake Youth Hostel for 20 years. During that time, she was a writer for the Waterbury Republican Newspaper and later worked for the Connecticut State Department of Children and Families for many years, training foster parents among many other services to the youth of Connecticut. She later went back to school to earn an MSW and Masters in Counseling from the University of Connecticut. She served the children of New Milford as a guidance counselor at the Northville Elementary School for many years before retiring. Trish was an active member of the Shepaug Valley Bible Church and loved her church family, Bible Study Groups, as well as many book clubs. Trish was a champion of the underdog, a protector of stray animals, and a lover of nature.
She is survived by her sister, Mildred Bobrovich of New York, NY; and children, Jill Zoeller of Brooklyn, NY; Scott Sobolewski and wife Ruth of Avon, Connecticut; and Dr. Robin Sobolewski and husband Dr. Ralph Gross of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She was the biggest fan of her grandchildren, Benjamin Zoeller, Bridget Sobolewski, Jocelyn Sobolewski, Timothy Sobolewski, Luca Gross, Nico Gross, Adely DePina, and Nebula Westbrook.
Calling hours for Trish will be Saturday May 21, 2022 from 10:00 A.M. – 12:00 P.M. with a service at 12:00 at Munson Lovetere Funeral Home, 235 Main Street North, Southbury.
