Patricia Lee Levine passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on October 22, 2023, three days after her birthday. Known as Tisa to her family and Patt to her husband and friends, she was born to Leo and Edna Purrinson on October 19, 1945 in New York City and grew up in Bradley Beach, New Jersey.
Her many interests in life began in childhood. This included reading insatiably, writing, and cooking. Patricia had a beautiful singing voice. She was a whiz at Scrabble and loved doing the NYTimes crossword puzzle every day in ink. She had a quick wit, and a great sense of humor, often silly and whimsical. She adored her cats and, over the years, she and her husband shared their lives with a number of them.
She graduated from the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) with a degree in fashion communications and later returned to serve as an adjunct instructor of advertising. This foray into teaching was a cherished addition to a career in advertising which had begun as a copywriter for Macy’s and later Ohrbach’s, where she wrote ads for print publication. She later worked at several iconic New York advertising agencies where she wrote and produced both print and television commercials for many household-name companies.
Patt’s culinary skills were at a professional level. She co-authored Eating Well After Weight Loss Surgery, a cookbook which is frequently distributed to patients of weight-loss surgeons around the country. But it was cooking for family and friends at her frequent dinner parties that gave her – and her guests – the most joy.
Patt and Bob lived on NYC’s Upper West Side (UWS) for over 40 years before moving to Oxford, CT in 2017. Patt was very active in the UWS community and our building for many years and made countless friends who will fondly remember her incisive intellect, and abiding love of opera, cats, and silly poems.
She leaves behind her beloved husband, Robert Levine, after 52 years of a truly wonderful and loving marriage. She is also survived by her two sisters, Rochelle Gershenow and Beth Purrinson: her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Norma and Donald Schwartz; three nieces, Francine, Becky, and Elizabeth; two great nephews, Paul and Bennett; and her fur baby, Quincy.
In lieu of sending flowers, please send contributions to Spooner House in Shelton, CT. in memory of Patricia Lee Levine.
