Obituary

Patricia F Dunleavy, of Oxford, CT passed away peacefully on July 22, 2023 at The Glendale Complete Care Center surrounded by family. Pat was born on March 10, 1940, to Thomas and Hannah Guinan in White Plains, NY. She went to St. Bernard’s Grammar School and St. John’s High School in White Plains, NY and graduated as a Registered Nurse from The St. Raphael’s Hospital School of Nursing in 1960. In 1961 she married Thomas Dunleavy. They had been High School and College sweethearts since 1955. She worked as a Nurse at St. Agnes Hospital in White Plains, NY and in St. Joseph’s Hospital in Yonkers, NY. Once they started to raise their children, she continued her Nursing profession part time in private duty care for both at home patients and special needs children. She was also a volunteer visiting nurse for Hospice of Northern Westchester County.

Pat and Tom have 6 children: Anne Marie Dunleavy Rameika, Thomas Dunleavy and his wife Elizabeth Foran Dunleavy, Margaret Dunleavy Weir and her husband Kevin Weir, Maureen Dunleavy Weir and her husband Michael Weir, Daniel Dunleavy and his wife Tracey Bobst Dunleavy and Rachel Dunleavy Quinn and her husband Charles Quinn. In addition to raising 6 children, she and Tom have 21 Grand Children 7 great grandchildren and 4 more on the way. Pat and Tom lived in Yonkers, NY, Cumberland, RI, Matawan, NJ, North Salem, NY (32 years) and currently reside in Oxford, CT (22 years).

Pat was President of her High School and Nursing School classes and President of the Parents Guild of St. Joseph’s Grammar School. She was a quiet leader who always led by example. She also was a daily volunteer at St. Josephs School, a 20-year Eucharistic Minister, a weekend volunteer on Catholic retreat weekends for teenagers, and a volunteer for adult Cursillo retreats. She was the most thoughtful and caring person and was dedicated to giving of her time to help family, friends and anyone who needed help and support.

Pat dearly loved our family, her God, her Church, her country, her Irish heritage, singing, dancing, Irish step dancing, reading, playing golf, and traveling with Tom, especially to Ireland and Israel. She was a great fan of all her children’s and grandchildren’s activities. She loved the ocean and going to the beach, especially on beach vacations, especially in New Jersey and Rhode Island.

She is predeceased by her parents, three brothers-in-law (Edward Conboy, William Morris, and Raymond Dunleavy) and by sister-in-law Nancy Dunleavy, son-in-law Bruce Rameika and Grand Daughter Hannah Mary Weir.

Pat is leaving her loving Husband Tom, her six children, her sister Joanne Morris and her brother Thomas Guinan, 20 grandchildren (Kristen Ellsworth, Kimberly Matteson, Eric Rameika, Thomas Dunleavy, Jeffrey Dunleavy, Scott Dunleavy, Michael Weir, Caitlin Weir, Liam Weir, Madeline Weir, Declan Weir, John Weir, Daniel Weir, Matthew Weir, Ryan Dunleavy, Garrett Dunleavy , Claire Dunleavy, Rileigh Quinn, Grace Quinn and Olivia Quinn) and 7 great grandchildren (Maeve Tubb-Weir, Owen Weir, Gavin Weir, Callie Rameika, Delaney Rameika, Reilly Dunleavy, and Teagan Dunleavy).

A viewing will be held at Munson-Lovetere Funeral home located at 235 Main Street North, Southbury, CT. on Wednesday July, 26, 2023 from 4:00 P.M – 7:00 P.M. There will be a Mass of Christian burial at St. Thomas the Apostle Church located at on 733 Oxford Road, Oxford, CT on Thursday July 27, 2023 at 10:00 A.M. Burial will be immediately following at New North Cemetery, Woodbury, Ct.
