Neuza Cecilia Andrade Rodriguez, 82, of Waterbury and formerly of Chicago, IL, and Bahia, Brazil, passed away on February 9, 2021, at Waterbury Hospital. Neuza was the daughter of Dalva Matos Padua Andrade and João Carlos de Andrade. She was the wife of Juan Francisco Rodriguez for 54 years.
Neuza earned a bachelor’s degree in education and was an elementary school teacher in Brazil. After marrying Juan and moving to the United States, she focused on creating a loving home and raising her three children.
Neuza was a great cook and baker. She also loved to read and do crossword puzzles. More than anything, she valued family and was immensely proud of her children and grandchildren. She loved a full house and was often called “Mom” by her children’s friends. She could solve any problem over a hot cup of coffee and something sweet to eat while sitting at the kitchen table.
In addition to her husband, Neuza leaves her son Marcel A. Rodriguez and his wife Mimi of Waterbury, CT, her daughter Saryna A. Jones and her partner Scott Swallow of Woodbury, CT, her daughter Cindy L. Rodriguez and her husband Jason Mager of Plainville, CT. She also leaves six grandchildren: Niko and Tyler Rodriguez, Dean, Alyna, and Evan Jones, and Maria Rodriguez She is also survived by four siblings: Ileuza Quadros, Mercia Fernandes, and Marta Ferreira, all from Brazil, and Marcos Paulo Andrade of Westerly, Rhode Island.
In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to make memorial contributions to the St. Vincent DePaul Mission of Waterbury Shelter at 114 Benedict St., Waterbury, CT 06706.
