Myron H. Benson, 85, of Woodcreek Road died with his wife Sylvia by his side at home on Thursday March 16, 2023. Myron was born February 17, 1938 in Waterbury a son of the late Herbert and Elizabeth (Booth) Benson. Formerly of Southbury, he was a member of its Volunteer Ambulance association, and had served with the United States Navy. Before moving to Bethlehem, he had lived in Washington, CT where he was a member and Past President of the Washington Lions Club.
Myron was well known and well liked wherever he went . He was the type of guy to give you the shirt off his back, even if you didn’t want it. He was a Past Master of King Solomons Lodge #7, a 32 nd degree Scottish Rite Freemason, a Spinx Temple Shrine Ritual Cast Member, and a Worthy Patron of the Order of Eastern Star.
Myron was well known as the go to operator of dragline equipment for many years; he had worked for Harry B. Wilson in Heritage Village and John J. Brennan Construction before starting M. Benson Contracting, which he owned and operated for over 30 years.
Besides his wife he is survived by his siblings, Louis Dunlap, Sylvia Socci, Jean Clark, John Benson, a son Charles M. Benson, a grandson Marshal G. Benson, and two great grandchildren. He is also survived by his four stepdaughters, Jayme (Liam) Curtis, Melissa (Matt) Bryant, Marcy (Mike) Molzon, Jody (Dave) Dodge, and grandchildren Beck and Teague Curtis, Olivia and Evan Bryant, Nicholas and Samantha Molzon, Derek and Deven Dodge, and his cat Katie. He was predeceased by a sister Brenda Klien.
