Mildred "Millie" Morgan Obituary

Mildred Morgan, beloved grandmother, mom, daughter, sister, and friend, passed away on December 22, 2023 at Elim Park, Cheshire, CT. with family present. She was born in Plattsburgh, New York having grown up amongst a large family. She was preceded in death by her husband Frank and more recently her son, Frank. She is survived by her sisters Janet Guthery of New York and Barbara Breen of Florida. She has celebrated her life with her children Frank Morgan, Margaret Pelsinski, Jean Walker, Robert Morgan, Daniel Morgan, along with 11 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Millie graduated from Ellis Hospital School of Nursing where she met her husband Frank at Union College, Schenectady. They raised five children in Woodbury, CT. While in Woodbury, Millie worked as a Community Health Nurse for the Southbury area and in 1970 she established a home care placement agency called “Special Care” which she ran for 10 years. She loved crafting macaroni angels, needle point ornaments, sewing projects, and gardening. She compiled a four-volume recipe binder with all her favorites and shared recipes from cookbooks published at Saint Paul’s Church, Woodbury. Millie was known for her love of camping, scouting, helping in the kitchen at church, and she loved music. At times you could hear her play her favorite hymns “Jesus loves me this I know” on her autoharp or keyboard. The house was never without chaos. As we grew up, Mom would make bedtime special by having us all listen as she read, while sitting on the top of the stairs, from The Adventures of Toby Taylor and or Tom Sawyer. Special memories included: cross country camping trips, vacations on Long Beach Island New Jersey, Hammonasset State Park and Scarborough Beach, Rhode Island.

She will be dearly missed though we are grateful that she got her wish to be home in heaven for Christmas.

A celebration of life will be hosted at Elm Park, 140 Cook Hill Road, Cheshire CT, Saturday, January 6th, 2024 at 3pm. A private burial will be held later in the spring. In lieu of flowers, please make all donations to the Elim Park Benevolent Fund in memory of Millie Morgan.
