Michael Carlson Obituary

Loving husband, father and son to his wife Lindsay Hunter Carlson, his son Samuel Michael Carlson, daughter Paige Violet Carlson and parents David John Carlson and Carmen Frieda Carlson.

Those who knew Mike well know of his larger-than-life persona, incredible sense of humor, and ability to make anything fun, turning the ordinary into the extraordinary in ways that would never have occurred to the rest of us.

His brilliant and creative mind, coupled with an unsurpassed mechanical ingenuity, led to one over-the-top creation after the next, providing endless opportunities for fun for those who had the privilege to be in his presence.  A genius with computers, he seemed to be able to fix almost anything and create code to solve any problem, a way to automate just about anything. This allowed him to be successful in his career, most notably in his most recent position as Product Information Manager at Hubbell, Inc., as well as in his personal life where he was able to let his imagination run wild, with the knowledge and skills to realize his unorthodox, unique ideas.

Always full of ideas and eager for new experiences, Mike was never content to stay in one place for long - he loved planning trips and traveling, especially to Disney World, Hawaii, Arizona, and Great Wolf Lodge. He loved building and launching model rockets, flying his drone, watching SpaceX rocket launches, taking a good-natured and supportive approach to being dragged around by his wife to countless historical landmarks, and driving his beloved Tesla (or rather, letting it drive him!). He loved to build Legos, set up elaborate Hot Wheels tracks all over the house, create giant backyard waterparks, work on his numerous fish tanks, and, when in a more sedate mode, play video games with his kids. More than anything, he loved just being with his children, who will miss him tremendously. Life with Mike was always an adventure, and our lives will surely be a lot less fun - and a lot more boring -without him. He has left us far too soon and his absence has created a cavernous void in the hearts of those who love him completely. We never expected to have to say goodbye so soon, but then again, Mike has always been spontaneous and full of surprises. He “burned too bright for this world” – we look forward to seeing him again in the next one.
