Maryon Renee (Billie) Zilbersher, age 92, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2020 at Norwalk Hospital in Norwalk, Connecticut after bravely struggling with the coronovirus COVID-19.
Maryon was born on July 6, 1927 to Russell and Leona Bilodeau in Providence, RI. She attended Bulkeley High School where she became a student pilot at age 16 and joined the Civil Air Patrol. She went on to attend Westbrook Junior College in Portland, ME and then Chamberlain School of Retailing in Boston, MA. “Billie” as she was affectionately known married William “Bill” Zilbersher in 1952 and had three children. They settled in Chicago, IL and shortly thereafter, moved to Stamford CT where Billie was a member of the Junior League. They later moved to Wilton, CT where Billie served as Curator of the Historical Society and PTA President at Miller School. An avid pianist and member of the Community Arts Council, Billie performed at festivals and public schools throughout Fairfield County with the “Duo Pianists”. In 1973 she moved to Tulsa, OK as Bill’s work led to a job transfer. The family returned to CT in 1979 where Billie worked for Wayman Productions until her retirement in 1989.
Billie was a joyous person, had a clever wit and keen sense of humor, and took great pleasure in her family, home, music, traditions and holidays. She had a love for interior design and enjoyed collecting and displaying Early American antiques. Her cooking talents were second to none and served as a wonderful expression of her love towards friends and family. She was an avid gardener and contributed much to the gardens surrounding Woodbury Hill, Woodbury, CT where she and Bill lived for over 20 years. Having a prodigious vocabulary, she was nearly unbeatable at Scrabble and had a passion for the NY Times crossword puzzles. Billie had a special affection for the beaches and coastline of New England which, in her heart, always remained her home.
She is survived by her children, Anne (Peter) Sherwood, Bradley (Valerie) Zilbersher and Curtis (Marieke) Zilbersher; grandchildren, Nicholas Zilbersher, Alexander Zilbersher, Max Zilbersher and Beau Zilbersher, as well as a host of other loving relatives and friends.
