Obituary

Mary Jane Hart (Jakubauskas), 93, passed away on June 15, 2022, at Waterbury Hospital after a brief illness. She was surrounded by her four children.

Born on May 13, 1929, in Waterbury, she was the daughter of Gladys Blinn Hart Lambert and William John Hart. Mary had two older brothers, William Hart, and Joseph Hart. Mary is the widow of Anthony F. Jakubauskas who passed away in 1997. They made their home in Southbury, where she lived for 70 years, most recently at Heritage Village.

Mary is survived by her children: Karen (Jakubauskas) Griska and her husband Jason of Litchfield, CT; Lynne Jakubauskas of Montpelier, VT; Eileen (Jakubauskas) Lovett and her husband Campbell of Holderness, NH; and Bruce Jakubauskas and his wife Jennifer (Webster) of Center Barnstead, NH. Mary is also survived by six grandchildren and three granddaughters-in-law.

Mary Hart was a graduate of Waterbury Hospital School of Nursing, class of 1950. She was an active member of the WHSN Alumni Association, serving many years as President.

Mary was the Rochambeau School Nurse in Southbury for 25 years. She was active in the Heritage Village Computer Club, Camera Club, Genealogy Club, and served as Secretary on the Board of Condo 8. Mary was a member of the Crochet group at the Oxford Senior Center and made countless afghans for family and charities.

She was a member of the United Church of Christ in Southbury for 70 years and was active on many boards and committees.

Mary loved to spend time with her children and their families. She enjoyed the company of her friends and relatives. Mary loved to travel, visiting every continent except Antarctica. She had a great sense of humor and made her family laugh even during her last days. Near the end of her life, she said “I’m so lucky.”

Visiting hours will be held at Munson-Lovetere Funeral Home, 235 Main St. North, Southbury, 10 am - noon on Monday June 27, 2022. There will be a committal service at the United Church of Christ Memorial Wall, 283 Main Street North, Southbury, at 12:30.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the United Church of Christ Southbury or the Harvard Nurses’ Health Study would be appreciated.
