Jeanne L. Birchfield, 101, of Woodbury died on October 11, 2023. Mrs. Birchfield was born October 30, 1921 in Bastrope Louisiana, the daughter of the late Herman and Zula (Mizelle) Lawson. She was a graduate of McDonugh High School and LeRabouin Art School in New Orleans.
Mrs. Birchfield worked as a copy writer and layout artist for Sears and Roebucks as well as a fashion consultant for a Dillard’s Department store, New Orleans.
Locally she was an accomplished artist who was featured in Voices and the Republic American Newspapers. She was a gourmet Creole cook and enjoyed reading and writing short stories and was an active member of the Women’s Club of Woodbury, and a member of North Congregational Church. Her favorite pastimes were spending time with her family, reading, writing short stories and painting.
She is survived by her son Craig Lawson Birchfield of Aurora, Colorado and daughter Cynthia Hughes of Woodbury, Connecticut, four grandchildren Laura and Mathew Hughes and Eric and Adam Birchfield. As well as four great grandchildren and several nephews and nieces. She was pre-deceased by her brothers: David Lawson and Dan Lawson and sisters: Barbara Haileg, Laurel L Blaydes and Nancy Stamm.

Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. The Woodbury funeral home of Munson-Lovetere has been entrusted with the arrangements.
