Watertown-
Lorraine (Lori) Jane (Walsh) McCormack entered the gates of heaven on October 1, 2023 with her loving family at her side, the day after her 85th birthday. Lori was born on September 30, 1938 in Bridgeport, CT to the late William and Agnes Walsh. She was the youngest of three children. Lori was the loving wife of John (Jack) McCormack for the past sixty-six years.
Lori attended schools in Bridgeport, graduating from St. John Commercial High School. She worked at Travelers Insurance Company until the birth of her first child in 1957. For the next fifteen years, she devoted her time and energy to raising her five children. In 1972, Lori went to work at the Southbury Training School where she held various secretarial positions for twenty-five years, before retiring in 1997. Lori along with her husband, Jack, opened the Wine Merchants in Southbury, CT which they operated for several years.
She loved to travel which took her and Jack around the world, and they especially loved their trips to Portugal. After her retirement, Lori and Jack became snowbirds and spent their winters in Sun Lakes, AZ. Lori volunteered her time with Neighbors Who Care and the Shrine of Lourdes in Litchfield.
Lori also was an avid reader who enjoyed playing Bingo, Mahjong and Rummikub, watching Wheel of Fortune, joining friends for morning swims in Arizona, family summer vacations at the beach, baking Irish Bread for her children and grandchildren, and spending time with family and friends.
In addition to her husband, Lori leaves behind her brother and sister in-law William and Anne Walsh; children Eileen Nettles, John McCormack (Leslie), Maureen Brinchman, Michael McCormack (Suzie Rohan) and son in-law Robert Brinchman. Grandchildren Heather Oun (Nikolai), Katie Lorraine Chechoski (Michael), Charles Nettles, Keely Brinchman (Zach Lerman), RJ Brinchman (Mara), Sean Brinchman, Laura McCormack (Sergey Kolpatchev), Patrick McCormack, Matthew McCormack (Brianna Bissonnette) and Trish Verrastro (Mike). Lori also leaves behind her cherished great grandchildren; Nathan, Joshua, Porter, Clayton, Charlotte and Ivy, and several nieces and nephews. She was also blessed to have so many wonderful longtime friends.
Lori was predeceased by her beloved son, Thomas McCormack; sister and brother in-law Kathleen and Norbert Kisco, brothers and sisters in-law, Michael and Evelyn McCormack, James and Patricia McCormack; and nephew Michael McCormack.
The family would like to thank the staff at The Ivy of Watertown for their compassion and care during Lori’s final days. The family would also like to thank the Hartford HealthCare at Home Hospice team, especially Jennifer.
Please join us to celebrate Lori’s legacy on Friday, October 6, 2023 from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm at the Munson-Lovetere Funeral Home, 2 School Street, Woodbury, CT. A funeral mass will follow at 1:30 pm at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 574 Main Street, Watertown, CT. A private burial will be held at a later date.
