Livia Serra McLarney, 91, of Heritage Village, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at St. Mary’s Hospital.
Mrs. McLarney was born February 22, 1930 in Waterbury, CT. She was the daughter of the late Frederick and Marion (Ligouri) Serra. She was raised in Plymouth on the Serra family dairy farm, lived on a farm on Andrew Mountain in Naugatuck, and moved to Southbury in 1962. She quickly became involved in the Town of Southbury, creating an extensive legacy. She opened Ann’s Beauty Salon – the towns first beauty shop and eventually become president of the small business association. She was also instrumental in bringing a new physician’s group to Southbury.
Her home was always open to friends and family and her maternal instincts always made people feel welcome. She will always be remembered as a fantastic cook and baker, finding great joy is sharing cakes, pies and cookies with friends. She was counted on for dessert at every holiday and family gathering.
She is survived by her daughter, Karen (Harry “Chuck”) Stone of Southbury, 2 sons, Larry (Maureen) Densmore of Morris, and Bruce (Linda) Densmore of Torrington; three grandchildren, Harry Stone III, Jeremy Stone, Mindy Myer; four great-grandchildren, Tess, Hunter, Chase Stone, and Jonah Myer; and several generations of nieces and nephews. She was also survived by two step daughters Kim Neddermann and Shari Hull. She was predeceased by 11 siblings as well as her husbands, Loren Densmore and Howard McLarney.
Friends may visit the Southbury Funeral Home of Munson-Lovetere 235 Main St. North Southbury, CT, on Saturday May 1, 2021 from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm. Burial will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery in Southbury. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
