Linda (Kiessling) Leigh, age 72, of Woodbury passed away on Sunday, May 15, 2022 at St. Mary’s Hospital after a courageous four-year battle with cancer.
Linda was born on January 25, 1950 in Waterbury to Elmer and Ella (Boerries) Kiessling who predeceased her. A lifelong resident of Woodbury, Linda graduated from Woodbury High School and Keene State College in New Hampshire.
For many years she worked for the family business, American Fastener Company. Later she worked for the Probate Court in Southbury and until the time of her death she was an Administrative Assistant for the Southbury Police Department. Over the years she clerked for many Woodbury town boards including the Board of Finance, Board of Fire Commissioner’s and the Historical District Commission.
She was a member of the Cross of Christ Lutheran Church in Waterbury and sang in the choir for many years.
She leaves her brother Chuck Kiessling and his wife Judith of Woodbury; her nephews Benjamin Kiessling (Rebecca) of East Granby, Daniel Kiessling (Lindsay) of Cromwell and Nicholas Kiessling of Woodbury; her great-nephews Mason, Hunter and Harrison, and great-niece Grace; her cousin Bruce Faber of Massachusetts and Barbara Kiessling Kohl (Paul) of New Hampshire. She also leaves her beloved dog Ainslee and her miniature horse, Chief.
The family would like to thank the members and staff of the Southbury Police Department for all their love and support as well as the thoughtfulness of her friends and neighbors during her illness.
A graveside service will be held on June 11th at noon in New North Cemetery in Woodbury. A reception will follow at the Emergency Services Building on Quassuk Road in Woodbury.
