Linda Focarile

Southbury- Linda Ann Focarile, 70, of Southbury, passed away on November 27, 2021 at St. Mary’s Hospital. She was the loving wife of Joseph Focarile for 48 years.

Linda was born on September 30, 1951 in Bronx, NY to the late Joseph and Mildred (Flori) Cattani. Linda graduated from Pearl River High School in 1969 and later from Berklee Secretarial School in 1970. She soon after found work as a Programmer Tech and Secretary at IBM where she stayed until 1984. She then became a paraprofessional and secretary at Gainfield Elementary School until her retirement in 2017. Volunteering in her community was a large part of Linda’s life. She donated her time to the Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts and the Church Choir at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Southbury.

On November 18, 1973, she married the love of her life, Joseph, and started their family together. Linda loved her family more than anything, always making her children and grandchildren her first priority. She loved and cared for her four grandchildren. Linda was a very selfless person and assumed the role of caretaker for her mother towards the end of her life.  

Linda was a very creative soul. She liked to spend her free time sewing, making teddy bears, playing the piano and singing. Her love for music was passed down to her children. She also took pride in her garden and loved animals, especially her dog, Jerry.

Besides her husband Joseph, Linda is survived by her children, Mark Focarile and his wife Sarah and Laura Lennon and her husband Michael; her grandchildren, Benjamin, Nathan, Mae and Jackson; and her sisters, Marie Bordenkircher and Joan Gallucci.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 from 5:00 until 7:00 pm in the Southbury Funeral Home of Munson-Lovetere, 235 Main St. North, Southbury, CT 06488. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place Thursday, December 2, 2021 10:00 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 910 Main St S, Southbury, CT 06488. Additional calling hours will be held at the church from 9:00 am until Mass on Thursday. Burial to follow at New North Cemetery in Woodbury, CT. In Linda’s memory, memorial contributions can be made to Sacred Heart Church Music Ministry.
