Lillian D. Mucherino, 91, passed away on October 11 at The River Glen Health Care Center in Southbury, Connecticut. Lillian was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut on December 17, 1926 and was raised by her mother Catharine (Dowd) Gandy in the west end of Bridgeport, Connecticut. She was the widow of Anthony “Chick” Mucherino whom she was married to for 61 years. She graduated from Bassick High School and never missed a reunion until recently. One of her greatest joys was laughing and spending time with her family and many close friends. Her home was always the place for family holidays and get togethers. Lillian retired from the State of Connecticut where she worked for 25 years in the Juvenile Detention Court where she was the Clerk of the Court and the right-hand person of the Honorable Judge Margarette Driscoll. Lil and Chick retired to Naples, Florida where they lived for many years and hosted constant visitors of family and friends from up North. There Lil and Chick made many new friends and joined the Palm River Country Club. Upon their return to Connecticut, Lil lived in Watertown with her daughter Dale and later made her home with her son John “Pat” and his wife Lana in Oxford. Lil was a devoted and loving caretaker to her husband during his illness. Lil was predeceased by her brother Joseph and sister Agnes. Her memories will be forever cherished by her son John and his wife Lana, her daughter Dale Romeo of Beacon Falls, her 7 grandchildren; Anthony, Lisa, Gina, Patrick, Dasha, Ryan and Aimee, and her 7 great grandchildren; Kelsea, Isaac, Josh, Christian, Vinny, Valentina and Rylee. Also, her brother-in-laws Chuck and his wife Shirley, Dan and his wife Dimps, many nephews and nieces, cousins and her good friend Rosita Petrocelli. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the wonderful staff at River Glen for their tremendous care, devotion and love during a difficult time. A memorial mass will take place on Saturday, October 20th, at 9AM at The Saint Thomas Apostle Church in Oxford. A burial will be held immediately following the church at New North Cemetery, Woodbury.
