Lewis Hozer

Lewis Hozer 78 of Naugatuck, CT
Passed away on May 3, 2020, at home with his grandsons by his side. Born September 4, 1941. He was the son to the late Joseph and Rose (Altschuler) Hozer of New Haven. Lewis was a devoted husband of fifty years to Joyce (Denzel), loving father to Wendy and David (deceased); doting grandfather(Poppa) to David’s children Jacob, Jaden, Aryella and Ava. He was a loving brother to his sister Roberta Hozer Lurie (deceased) and brother Michael Hozer (deceased).
During the Vietnam war, Lewis was stationed in Iran and assisted a General in the Army. Upon his return from the war, he worked as a chef at Sid’s Restaurant in Milford. Once he had his family, he pursued a successful career in the wholesale carpet industry.
Lewis loved to travel. He enjoyed taking cruises with his wife and family; his favorite location being Aruba where he would return every year with his wife on their wedding anniversary. Besides cruises, he treasured his annual vacations with his family and friends to Wildwood and Atlantic City.
Lewis lived for his family and friends. He would do anything for them. He loved participating in his grandchildren’s extracurricular activities and watching them develop into strong, caring and independent individuals. Lewis had a special talent for cooking and enjoyed preparing meals for his family and friends especially his signature dishes.
Lewis was loved by all that knew him and will be greatly missed.

Services will be held Thursday, May 7, 2020 @ 12 pm via Youtube: B’nai Israel Southbury. Shiva will be held via Zoom: Bnai Israel Southbury on Thursday, May 7, 2020 at 6 pm, Sunday, May 10, 2020 @ 7 pm and Monday, May 11, 2020 @ 7 pm.
