Katherine M. Buck, 86, of Woodbury, CT., passed away peacefully in her home Wednesday morning, February 5, after a long illness and after being in Hospice care for about a week. She was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Robert C. Buck, who died in 2006, her parents Alexander McGugan and Sarah Jane McConaghie, and brother James McGugan.
Katherine was born May 24, 1933 in New Milford, CT., and grew up in Washington, CT. She graduated from Washington High School in 1951 and went to New Haven to work for the Connecticut Welfare Department from 1951-55. She married Robert C. Buck of Ansonia in 1955. They lived in several towns in the New Haven area, Dunwoody, GA., and Washington, CT., over the years.
Katherine was a member of several Women’s Clubs in Connecticut and Georgia, the Lioness Club of Dunwoody, GA., while living there, and several craft clubs over the years as she loved quilting and rug-hooking, and Washington Grange #11. She leaves two sons, Richard C. Buck and Robert A. Buck and his wife Margaret (Terry) Buck, and step grandson Mark Scibek all residing in the local area.
There will be a calling hour on Saturday February 8, 2020 from 1:00 – 2:00 PM at Munson Lovetere Funeral Home, 235 Main St. N., Southbury. A funeral service will begin at 2:00 PM by Reverend Mark Heilshorn, former pastor of First Congregational Church , Woodbury, CT., where she was an active member for about 20 years. Burial will take place in the spring at Washington Green Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the New Milford VNA and Hospice.
