Julie Johnson Obituary

Middlebury- Julie Marie (Boyle) Johnson, 55, of Middlebury, Connecticut, passed away on September 27, 2022 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury.  Forever courageous and resilient, after living beautifully while battling cancer for 19 years, the angels came for Julie on Tuesday when her loving Lord called her home.

Julie was born on November 5, 1966 in Edina, MN, and after several moves with her family, the Boyle’s moved to the Chicago suburb of Arlington Heights, IL.  She graduated from Rolling Meadows High School and earned a BA from Northern Illinois University, where she was a member of the sisterhood of Delta Gamma sorority.  After college Julie worked as both a Flight Attendant as well as a Hotel Sales Manager, then settled into the role that was her life’s passion – wife of Neil and mother to their beloved daughter Kate.  She filled her days with Girl Scouts, school book fairs and assisting with reading, teaching Sunday School, skating lessons, long snuggles on the couch with her dog Holly, and too many soccer games to count.  She supplemented this with time helping out her little darlings at the St. James Lutheran Preschool.

Julie brought an incomparable light and kindness into everyone’s lives – nothing made her more alive and happier than time spent talking and laughing in a crowd of loved ones.  Although her husband Neil’s career moved them about, at each stop Julie gave a warm embrace to new acquaintances who became life-long friends.  Vacations were used for return visits to her cherished city of Chicago to celebrate holidays, Boyle family reunions, Cubs games, and many other events with friends and family.  Julie’s joy and gratitude for each day of life was inspirational.

Julie is survived by her loving husband of 26 years, Neil, daughter Kate, as well as mother Joanne (Dolan) Boyle, siblings Mary Ann, Jean, Peggy, Kathy and David, numerous loving nieces, nephews and in-laws, a wondrous extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins, as well as the most amazing collection of friends that anyone could wish for.

Visitation will be from 1:00 pm to 3:30 pm on Monday, October 3 at the Munson-Lovetere Funeral Home, 235 Main Street North, Southbury.  A Christian funeral service will follow at 4:00 pm at St. James Lutheran Church, 111 Peter Road, Southbury.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. James Lutheran Church or to The Harold Lever Regional Cancer Center, 1075 Chase Parkway, Waterbury CT 06708 https://www.leevercancercenter.org/donate/.
