Born on August 13, 1931 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, she was the daughter of Wilfred and Catherine (Kay) Munro Eagle. She grew up in Montreal and attended McDonald College at McGill University where she met her future husband, Philip Daniel Henry, MD
Joyce was an incredibly strong woman and mother to seven children. Her three youngest, Caroline Anne, Alexandra Mowen and Paul Eagle, as well as her grandson, Michael Charles, all predeceased her. She is survived by her daughter, Marlyn Elizabeth of Woodbury, CT, and sons Philip Daniel, Jr. (Julie), of Woodbridge, VA, Bruce Munro (Joanne Varanelli), and Charles Douglas (Laurie Comerford), of Woodbury, CT, and of course her very best friends of many, many years, E.J. Weldon of Southbury, CT and David and Sarah Nyman of Florida. She had nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren, all of whom she adored and they her. Joyce’s Sister, Catherine Marlene Eagle Clark, and brother, Wilf Eagle and his wife Mary, still reside in Canada, as do her nieces, Cathy, Megan, and Kimberly, and nephew Mark Eagle. Her Nephew Ross McKinlay also predeceased her. Her Canadian family adored her, as did all of her friends.
Joyce (Granner) was an accomplished equestrian, gardener, cook, golfer, and a well known realtor. However, her greatest love was her family. A loving, caring, nurturing, fun, and funny person she cherished time spent with family and friends. She was the best mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, surrogate mom, and friend anyone could ask for. She looked forward to family dinners and holidays and all were welcome in her home; there was always room for anyone who cared to join in family dinners, or who needed a place to stay for the night.
She will be remembered for her open heart, generous spirit, sharp mind, and her fierce, unwavering devotion to her family and friends.
There will be no calling hours, but a memorial service will be held on Saturday May 15th 2021 at 11:00 am at the St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Woodbury, CT, where she was a member for many years.
