John Jungen III Obituary

Middelbury-

John J. Jungen, 67 , passed away March 26,2021 after a brief illness.  He was the devoted husband of Beth (Phillips) Jungen for 19 years . John was born July 25, 1953 in Queens, New York son of the late John J. and Marilyn (Dippold) Jungen. John was a great guy with a big heart who loved his whole extended family .  He had a wonderful sense of humor, once you met John, you were a friend.

If you ever needed something done around the house, call John, he can do it, from sheet rock, countertops, to putting in a door or a deck or patio.  John was your man, and he was happy to do it.  He was a very patriotic man.  He loved Fords and trucks.  This is what made him such a good commercial truck salesman.  He has many good customers who will miss him terribly.

He also loved softball, he was a past president, coach and player of the Diamond Back men’s softball team.  He also coached the Women’s Diamond back team, both of which his brother Mark sponsored.  He was a member of the Middlebury Volunteer Fire Department , an EMT, both which he loved and was very dedicated to.

He also volunteered for the Woodbury Lions club Haunted hayride every year as the Grim Reaper.

He loved music, he could remember lyrics to any song before the 80’s, he played the trumpet in the school band for Southbury High school, where he graduated in 1971.  This musical talent is now with his niece, Jordan Jungen, who plays her Uncle Johnny's trumpet now.  He was so PROUD of that!

Besides his beloved wife  Beth and beloved little girl Sasha, John leaves behind to cherish his memories his  brothers Glenn ( Jane), Mark and Dave ( Carla), sister Lisa (Don), nieces Elizabeth , Ashley, Sarah, Jordan, Laura and Taylor , nephew Greyson, many cousins , his Aunt Lyn and Uncle  Bill. Besides his parents John was predeceased by his English Springer Spaniel Shiloh.

We would like to give a special thank you to his “adopted” brother Dave Lenkowski for always being there thru everything. A thank you to the nursing staff at VITAS hospice, especially Maria for taking such good care of our beloved John, and the family.
