John Alfred Hofmann

Southbury

John Alfred Hofmann 61, lifelong resident of Southbury, passed away surrounded by his family at Yale New Haven Hospital.  John, a loving husband, Dad and Pop was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut, to John and Frieda Hofmann on July 5, 1959.

He attended Rochambeau in Southbury and worked with his father learning the carpentry trade, eventually opening his own business, J.A.H Carpentry.

He loved being with his family and spending his free time with his six grand-daughters. He also enjoyed working on his cars, doing yard work, taking his grand-daughters for rides on his tractor and building things.

John was pre-deceased by his parents, his brother Al Hofmann and his previous wife Helen (Micci) Hofmann.

John leaves behind his wife of 21 years Ruth, his daughter Crystle Hofmann and her partner Wayne Gargoni and their four daughters: Alyssa, Madison, Riley and Bailey Gargoni, his son, John Hofmann of Southbury. John also leaves his step-children: Harriet and Michael Sims and her daughters Alexandria DiMichele and Gabriela Capozziello. In addition, he leaves a sister Lillian Groody and her husband Frank of Woodbury, several nieces and nephews and a lot of beloved friends.

A celebration of life will be held on July 10, 2021 at 3:00 PM at his and Ruth’s home 1011 Georges Hill Rd in Southbury.
