Herbert F. DePina

Herbert Francis DePina, 90, of Southbury, died on Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at St. Mary’s hospital in Waterbury. He was the husband of the late Ruth DePina for more than 60 years. Born in Brooklyn New York on September 3, 1930, he served in the US Army from 1948 until 1951 where he met his wife Ruth while stationed in Bamberg Germany. Herbert and Ruth moved from New York to Connecticut in 1955 where he worked as a machinist until retiring in 1992. He moved to The Hearth of Southbury in 2020 where the staff took good care of him. He is survived by his sons Michael and his wife Karen of Oxford CT and Jerry and his wife Yvette of Murrieta, CA; his sisters Dorothy McGlynn of California and Gladys and her husband Bud Kelly also of California. A private funeral service will be held for family on Friday March 5 at the Southbury Funeral Home of Munson-Lovetere, 235 Main Street North in Southbury.
