Gregory Rogers Johnson passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on February 11, 2020. Greg was predeceased by his parents, Theodore and Linda Johnson, and his sister, Page Lindsay. Greg leaves behind his beloved wife of 37 years, Bonnie Wright Johnson, and his three stepdaughters, Jessica DeMarest and her spouse, Jeffrey; Heather Cole and her spouse, Michael; and Katie Lapointe. Greg was very proud of his stepdaughters and his five granddaughters, Chelsea and Taylor DeMarest, Zoie and Hazel Mae Cole, and Raegan Lapointe. He also leaves behind an extended family of cousins, several nieces and a nephew.
Greg was born in South Hampton, NY, and he was a life-long resident of Bethlehem. He attended various private boarding schools in New England, and he was a graduate of both Rollins College and SUNY Oneonta. Greg worked in an array of interesting jobs, including as a courier in NYC, a daytime television teleprompter, a restaurant co-owner, and a bartender. Greg was most proud of his business, Books About Antiques, which was located in Woodbury and then New Preston, CT. Following the sale of his bookstore, Greg also worked as a CNA and companion through Masonicare and Hartford Healthcare.
Greg was an avid reader who loved to take vacations and walks on the beach collecting shells with his wife in Hilton Head, SC. He was a huge Boston Red Sox and Bruins fan, and he enjoyed sports. Greg was a past member of the Bethlehem Lions Club, a volunteer for the Bethlehem Fair, and an active member of the First Church of Bethlehem.
Greg's family would like to thank the many healthcare professionals who assisted with his care. Donations in Greg's name can be made to the First Church of Bethlehem, 21 Main Street South, Bethlehem, CT 06751. Services will be Saturday, February 29th at 11:00 at the First Church of Bethlehem.
