Gene Bobel, 69, of Sandy Hook, CT entered eternal life on February 10th after a courageous year-long battle with brain cancer. He was born on August 16, 1951 in Danbury, CT son of the late Edward and Elizabeth Bobel.
Gene was a graduate of Henry Abbott Technical High School and Waterbury State Technical College. Gene worked as a Software Engineer for a number of area companies including his own, Automated Information Management. Most recently Gene was employed at Leonardo DRS in Bethel, CT.
Gene loved photography and worked as a Photographer for the Danbury New-Times beginning in high school. He founded his own videography business, KLAB Productions and enjoyed capturing life's special events locally for over 20 years.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Carol of 46 years, his beautiful daughters, Katharine and Laura and son-in-laws, Mike and George and four grandsons whom he adored. Gene is also survived by his brother, Steve and sister-in-law, Tammy, as well as four nieces, two great nephews, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Lorraine and Tom Anderer, sister-in-law Cathy Lombardi, and cousins John Kraska, Carolyn Butler, their spouses, children and extended family.
Calling hours will be Thursday February 18, 2021 from 5:00 - 7:00 PM at Munson Lovetere Funeral Home, 235 Main St. North, Southbury. A funeral mass will be Friday February 19, 2021 at 11:00 AM at St. Rose of Lima Church, 46 Church Hill Rd, Newtown. Guests are asked to meet directly at church.
