Elizabeth (Betsy) Matilda Hacklin Fleming, passed away at the age of 78 on March 7, 2020 at Bristol Hospital surrounded by family and friends. She was the wife of the late Edward J. Fleming.
Elizabeth was born in Jersey City, NJ. She spent her childhood in Upstate NY, Scotland, Woodside Queens NYC and then moved to Newtown, CT. She was a long time resident of Southbury, CT., and spent her last months in Bristol, CT.
She was a loving mother to Thomas Fleming (wife Laura), Jayne Hayes who predeceased her, John Fleming and Edward J. Fleming Jr. (wife Kimberly). She loved her many grandchildren, they were the joys of her life. She leaves 7 grandchildren, Emily, Richard, Alyssa, Brianna, Casey, Cody and Patrick and one great granddaughter, Hope. She is also survived by her son in law Randy Hayes, her sister Jayne Ludlow and her niece Suzy both of Ft. Lauderdale, FL., and devoted, loving caregiver and good friend Darlene Parent.
She had many jobs in her lifetime but spent her last working years as a compassionate, exceptional home health aide. Betsy loved spending her summers in Rhode Island, camping and at the beach with her husband and grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the staff of Waterbury Hospital and Bristol Hospital, along with the Hospice nurses and visiting home nurses, Pastor Judah Thomas of Thrive Church in Terryville, and Pastor John Eastwood of Calvary Chapel in Southbury.
