Southbury- Dorothy Batchelor Harris, 88, passed away at The Watermark at East Hill on Wednesday, September 28, 2022. She was the loving wife of 49 years to the late Harold (Harry) E. Harris.
Dorothy was born on January 18, 1934, in Newark, New Jersey to the late Charles and Dorothy (Boland) Batchelor. She worked at General Motors Acceptance Corp., where an ‘accounting error’ led her to meet Harry. They fell in love soon after and raised their family in West Caldwell & Essex Fells, NJ and Westport, CT.
She enjoyed playing softball, tennis and was a master of crossword puzzles. In their later years, she and Harry enjoyed extensive travels. Dorothy escaped the Connecticut winters with her many extended visits to sunny California to see her daughter and grandchildren. Dorothy loved her family most of all.
Dorothy is survived by her sister Barbara Rosselot and her husband Bob, her children Craig Harris of Newtown, Kathleen Skinner of Torrington, Eileen Thirkield of Southbury, and Susan Harris of Los Angeles, CA. Dorothy was the proud & loving grandmother of Nicholas, Lena, Kate, Alex, Madeline, Tillie, Sarah and Laura. She is also survived her nephews Rob Rosselot (Michelle) and Ryan Rosselot (Kristina).
