UPDATED SERVICE INFORMATION

A Memorial Gathering will be held at Carolyn's home Saturday, July 23, 2022 1:00-2:00 pm with full military honors at 2:00 pm.

Donald J. Eirich passed away peacefully at home on December 31, 2021. Born on May 19, 1933 in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late John and Mary (Ribson) Eirich. He was the husband of Glenda (Fralic) Eirich, brother to John Eirich and father-in-law to Lynne (Oberlander) and Eric Laurentus, all of whom predeceased him.

Don attended high school in Brooklyn where he was an exceptional athlete. He played basketball and baseball and was scouted by the Brooklyn Dodgers and Detroit Tigers. He worked for the Brooklyn Union Gas Company after which he served his country in the United States Army. He spent thirty-five years working as a splicer for several Bell System companies.

After his retirement from Bell, he worked as a starter at the Heritage Village Country Club. An avid golfer himself, Don aced an astounding seven holes-in-one and participated in many charity golf tournaments. He also thoroughly enjoyed lively conversation with friends at the Heritage Deli. But his greatest joy, however, was spending time with Chris and Kelly, his grandchildren. Pop Pop felt so blessed to be able to watch them grow up.

Don is remembered with love by his son John and wife Mary, daughter Carolyn, sons Donald and Matthew, grandchildren Christopher and wife Katie, Kelly, Rob, Valerie, Julie, great-granddaughter Jamie, sister-in-law Dorothy and nieces Maryellen, Susan and Lisa and man’s best friend, Rumely.

A memorial celebration will be held in Don’s honor at a later date.

Donations in Don’s name may be made to the Tunnels to Towers Foundation.
