Donald Barry Obituary

Donald Harold Barry, 81, passed away on May 16, peacefully at his home in Oxford, CT. He was born August 25, 1938 in Van Horne, Iowa to Ronald and Mildred (Jenkins) Barry. He received his BSBA in Accounting from Creighton University, in Omaha, Nebraska, where he played both basketball and baseball. In 1961, he married the love of his life Elizabeth McCormack Barry. 

Don is survived by his wife Elizabeth of 58 years, his son Mike Barry of Oxford, CT, his daughter Kelly and her husband Phil DelDebbio of Danbury,Ct  and his son Tom and his wife Marcella Orlando Barry of Stamford,Ct. As well as his 5 grandchildren Brian DelDebbio, Chris DelDebbio, Kaylee DelDebbio, Carly Barry, and Madison Barry, and his sisters Carol Barry of Minnesota, and Cathy Englund and her husband Bill of Minnesota. Don was preceded in death by his father Ronald Barry, his mother Mildred Jenkins Barry, and his sister Betty Schmuecker. 

Don was a financial executive of Chesebrough Ponds/ Unilever for 32 years. Don served as a member of the Institute of Management Accountants for 30 years. During that time he was a National Vice President. He also was the past President of The Stuart Cameron McLeod Society. Don and his family were residents of Fairfield, Ct for over 20 years. During that time he was actively involved with various sporting activities. He was also a past board member with Our Lady of Assumption Church. His competitive spirit blended nicely with many of his activities such as tennis and golf. He was also an avid UCONN women's basketball fan. Don enjoyed taking photos of his family and friends and was known for always carrying a camera with him. He was a member of the Oxford Green Camera club and The Arizona Photography Club. 

Don was an active member of St Thomas the Apostle Church in Oxford, Ct. His wishes were that any contributions to be made go to St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 733 Oxford Rd. Oxford, CT 06478. A memorial service will be celebrated at a later date when it is safe to gather together.
