May 28, 1958 – May 13, 2022
Dean Ludorf, a lifelong resident of Connecticut, passed away Friday, May 13, at the age of 63.
Dean was born May 28, 1958, to Esther Coe Ludorf and the late Calvin “Bucky” Ludorf at Waterbury Hospital.
Growing up on “The Hill” in the Purchase part of Southbury, Dean enjoyed childhood summers on Nantucket, working during his teenage years at the family sawmill, and following his interests in tractors and car engines. Dean had a wealth of stories to share about both his grandfathers, John Ludorf and Anson Coe. He also said he was blessed to have shared so much time with his “Grammy Coe.”
Dean graduated from Pomperaug High School in 1976. Although he endured many physical challenges after this, he never lost his passion for engines, scrap metal, and the experiences he shared on both the Ludorf and Coe lands. To the very end, Dean remained true to himself.
Dean is survived by his mother, Esther, sisters Norma Carey and Kathy Lent (David), brother Marty (Deb), aunt Marie Ludorf (Julie), along with a large extended family including many cousins, nieces, and great-nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Dean on Friday, May 20, 2022, from 4 – 6 p.m. at the Ludorf Homestead, 501 West Purchase Rd., Southbury.
