David Pavlick Obituary

David Pavlick, 77, of Woodbury, passed away on April 18, 2024. He was the devoted husband of Patricia (Ayers) Pavlick for 54 years. Born to Joseph and Dorothy (Blake) Pavlick on May 31, 1946 in Bridgeport, Dave grew up in Easton and graduated from Joel Barlow High School before enlisting in the Navy.

He was employed at Warner Packaging (Bridgeport), Haydon Switch and Instrument (Waterbury), General Electric (Plainville), and he retired from the Parker Hannifin Corporation in New Britain.

Dave supported his children, whether it was coaching youth soccer, or loading boy scouts into the truck for their weekend adventure. His sons remember excitedly waiting for dad to get home from work and take them to Hollow Park to field some grounders and fly balls, or to kick the soccer ball around.

Dave was a fan of all types of auto racing, from NHRA drag racing to World of Outlaws sprint cars.

He reminisced about the days of Danbury Racearena and working on race cars there, and later in life his favorite track was probably Lebanon Valley Speedway in New York. Dirt or asphalt, he stayed abreast of the short track scene from the northeast and beyond, and he loved to talk about it.

As an avid shadetree mechanic, Dave completed an impressive list of automotive repairs and maintenance done himself in a gravel driveway without a garage. He had a knack for researching and troubleshooting motor or automotive problems. If you had a problem with your vehicle or lawn mower, you called dad first. His mechanical knowledge began with fixing and running old junkers in Easton cow pastures, well before he was old enough to legally drive.

Other interests included vintage snowmobiles, restoring musical instruments, and history.

He cherished his grandchildren and was always happy to tell about their activities. His love of dogs and his gentle touch formed special bonds that allowed only him to brush them.

Dave is survived by his loving wife Patti, sons Marc (Allison) and Todd (Chantel), brother Dan Pavlick, and sister Kathi Pavlick-Aguado. He also leaves behind his grandchildren Elijah, Kaydence, and Autumn, as well as nephews Sean, Kyle, Scott, Albert, and Carl.

He is buried in Woodbury at New North Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Dave’s name to your local animal shelter.
