Cynthia Bates Obituary

SOUTHBURY – Cynthia (Cindy) Bates age 64 of Southbury, a hair dresser, who focused on her profession providing services at the Lutheran Home and Middlebury Convalescent Home. The residents were always so happy from the care Cindy gave. The smiles they showed, gave way in making Cindy’s Day! Cindy has passed away peacefully at home October 04, 2021 surrounded by family and friends.

Cindy and Wally were a “cup and saucer couple,” you would rarely see one without the other. Wally was Cindy’s “Honey Buns,” and Cindy was Wally’s “Sweetie Pie.”

The two of them met in 1983, built their home in 1988, and were married on the “deck with the view” on July 1, 1990, and vowed “until death do we part.” The “saucer and the cup” are now reunited together again in eternal life holding hands once again.

Cindy leaves behind her Brother Kevin Smith and his wife Frances, Niece Jennifer and Nephew Joshua of Waterbury CT. Step daughter Pamela and her husband Rich Marchetti Jr. and Granddaughter Reanna of Beacon Falls CT. Don Luf Companion and Care Provider of Southbury CT. Her best friend Beth Lonegan of Southbury CT. Parents Kenneth and June Smith and Brother Keith Smith of North Carolina.

The family would like to thank the staff at The Harold Leever Cancer Center in Waterbury for their love, compassion, and hard work to fight this terrible disease. A warm thank you to The Hartford Healthcare Hospice team for providing exceptional care. A deepest thank you and appreciation to Don for his sacrifices and the upmost care for Cindy. A heart felt thank you to all those countless friends for their prayers and well wishes.

Cindy’s wishes were to have no services. She wants to let you know to make sure you hug and tell the person you love them. Don’t go to bed mad or leave for work mad. Life is too short.
