Chester Gage Obituary

Woodbury-

Chester” Chet” Gage passed into eternal peace on October 11, 2023. 

Chet graduated from Fairfield Prep in 1961 and subsequently enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He served on an aircraft carrier during the Bay of Pigs and the early stages of the Vietnam War.  After being honorably discharged, he attended Western Connecticut State University where he met Patricia “Pat” Schaffer. They married in 1970. Patricia began teaching and Chet started his career in the Pharmaceutical Industry.

Upon retirement, he and Pat became volunteers at the Woodbury Food Bank. Chet was also very involved with the American Legion and the Lions Club. 

Chet is survived by his son Christian, daughter-in-law Christine, and their two daughters, Barbara Raynne and Aldyn. Chet is also survived by his sister Catherine and her husband Charles.

Services will be held at North Congregational Church located 11 Main St N, Woodbury at 10:30am on Saturday October 21, 2023. Burial with full military honors will immediately follow services at New North Cemetery in Woodbury. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Community Services Council at CSCW, PO Pox 585, Woodbury, CT 06798.
