Charles Walters, Jr. Obituary

Southbury - Charles E. Walters Jr., 80, loving husband of Barbara Walters, passed away peacefully on March 29, 2023 after a long battle with pancreatic cancer, with his family by his side.

Born on August 5, 1942 in Bridgeport, CT., he was the son of the late Charles & Francis Walters. Charlie grew up in Newtown and was a graduate of Newtown High School.

Charlie owned his own construction company for more than 40 years, building commercial and residential homes in CT, and NY. After his retirement he worked as a security guard for IBM in Southbury.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and especially boating on Long Island Sound in his Mainship “ The Sea Cruise”. Charlie and Barbara also enjoyed traveling to the Caribbean, numerous times over the years. It was their favorite place to go.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son Michael Walters, his daughter Patricia Walters, his sister Shirley Schepp and husband Frank of Huntington and his brother in law Robert Kelley and wife Geri of Port St. Lucie, Fl. He is also survived by grandchildren Kelley, Amanda, Danny and Nicole and great grandchildren Riley, Jonathan and a multitude of nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his sister Irene, his brother-in-law Charlie Guilde and his beloved granddaughter, Christina Walters, his boating buddy. Charlie leaves his loyal, sweet, constant companion, Christina’s dog Ethel, who was always by his side during his illness.

Charlie will be greatly missed by his family and friends. In respect of his wishes, there will be no services. In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation in Charlies memory to the Smilow Cancer Center in Waterbury.

The family is grateful for all the Doctors, Nurses and staff at Smilow for their caring and support, especially Dr. Victor Chang and his nurse Amanda.
