Catherine (Katie) Feucht Obituary

Catherine (Katie) Berry Feucht, a beloved mother and fine artist lost a courageous battle with cancer and peacefully passed away on June 18, 2020 surrounded by her husband and family. Born in Kirkwood, Missouri on August 31, 1931, the daughter of William Chapman Berry and Ann Hawken Berry. Katie attended Kirkwood High School and graduated from the Washington University School of Fine Arts in St. Louis in 1954. She married her college sweetheart, (and is survived by) Frederic Nathan Feucht and had three sons, Fred Feucht, Jr., Erick Feucht and Christian Feucht. She moved from St. Louis to Westchester County, NY with her husband in in 1957.

Katie was a prolific fine artist and graphic designer. During her career she worked with her husband as a commercial artist while always expressing her creativity in a wide variety of fine art styles and mediums including, portraits, abstract oils, representational watercolors (primarily landscapes) and oriental brush paintings. She had numerous one-person shows and won national awards for her oriental brush paintings. Katie had a lifelong love of all of the arts including theater, dance and music. She studied and danced ballet as a young woman, starred in many local community theater productions and could be found out on the dance floor at many live local musical performances until just recently.

Most of all, Katie was a deeply spiritual person. Starting from her Christian roots, she explored many schools of thought including, Yoga, Sufism, and Zen Buddhism, among many others. She was ordained as an interfaith minister and Buddhist monk. She led spiritual study groups for many years and she was a faithful member of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) for 45 years.

Katie and her husband moved from their longtime home in Pleasantville, NY to Heritage Village in Southbury in 2012. She was a beloved mother who loved dogs and children and was a loving surrogate mother to many others than just her three sons by birth (you all know who you are). She shared her spiritual insights touching all that met her with her
love and kindness.

A memorial service will be held at Purchase Quaker Meetinghouse in Purchase, NY at a date to be announced depending on the Coronavirus restrictions
