Audrey Velicka Obituary

Our beloved daughter, sister Audrey Marie Velicka, (55) of Jacksonville, Florida went to be with her Savior on August 5, 2021.  She was a lifelong resident of Connecticut and had only begun her journey in the sunshine state before she was tragically taken from us.  She wanted to live near the beauty of the water where she could take long walks and watch beautiful sunsets. Besides spending time with her family and friends, Audrey had a passion for travel, any kind of travel but mostly if it was close to the beach. She also loved shopping, good food, especially seafood and most of all cuddling with her furry feline friend, Rush, whom she treasured beyond any other possession.

Audrey was raised in Watertown, Connecticut where she attended high school, and then received her Bachelor degree at Johnson + Wales University in Rhode Island in Travel Tourism. In her youth, Audrey attended Lithuanian heritage camp and danced with the Lithuanian Folk Dance Group Berzelis and was very proud of her Lithuanian heritage.

Audrey’s second birth in 2009 was with Teen Challenge where she rebuilt her life following her struggle with addiction, when she found Jesus. She continued to give back by sharing her testimony to help others free themselves from addiction.

She most recently worked as a Talent Acquisition Manager at Dymax Corporation, where she was responsible for recruiting and onboarding new employees to the company.  She touched many lives at Dymax, her passion for her career was infectious.  Her position required a lot of personality, smarts, discretion, and industry know how. She loved her work almost as much as the people she worked with.  Audrey’s favorite part of her job was the moment she was able to extend an offer out and help make someone’s wish come true. Audrey was pursuing an MBA with a concentration in HR from Johnson & Wales University.

She is survived by her parents, Alvydas (Al) and Diana (Kronkaitis) Velicka, her loving sister Paula Garvey Marunas, her brother-in-law Todd Marunas, and her cherished nephew and niece, Michael Ogden Garvey and Julia Rasa Marunas.  She was predeceased by her paternal and maternal grandparents, Joseph and Natalija Velicka and Vaclovas and Jadvyga Kronkaitis, and her loving brother-in-law and friend, Michael Ogden Garvey, Sr.  She also leaves behind loving aunts, an uncle and an exorbitant number of cousins and friends who are deeply saddened by her passing.

Family and friends are invited to her Celebration of Life gathering at Thrive Church, 284 Townhill Rd, Terryville, CT  06786 on August 18, 2021 at 11 a.m.  Calling hours will be held at Munson Lovetere Funeral Home, 235 Main Street North, Southbury, CT 06488 on August 17th from 5– 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to one of the following organizations:  Teen Challenge Rhode Island, www.tcrhodeisland.org or to Thrive Church, Thrive.church/give.
