Arthur Louis Szepesi of Roxbury, Connecticut died peacefully surrounded by family at the Regional Hospice in Danbury on April 1, 2022, after a yearlong battle with glioblastoma. He was 79 years old and was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut on January 20, 1943. He was a graduate of the Fairfield University Class of 1965, majoring in business administration. Following his graduation, he joined his family trucking business, which was located in Stratford.
Shortly, after moving to Roxbury, Connecticut in 1977, Art embarked on a new career path. For 33 years he worked as a financial advisor for Ameriprise Financial. The firm’s name was changed several times over the years, but Art’s commitment to his clients was unwavering. He worked tirelessly to help each and every one of them create investment plans that helped them realize their financial goals.
Art’s love of his community was expressed through his many years of volunteer service to the Roxbury Ambulance Association, as well as the Little Britches Therapeutic Riding Program of Roxbury. His background in financial planning proved invaluable in the overhauling and updating of the Ambulance Association’s investment plans. His 25 years of volunteer service helped them build a healthy financial foundation, which continues to this day. His financial planning expertise, combined with his great love and understanding of horses, also made him a unique asset to the Little Britches board of directors. He was generous with his time and patient beyond measure.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Patrice Navarette Szepesi, and his two children, Adam Navarette Szepesi of Naugatuck, as well as a daughter residing in Litchfield. Also surviving are a brother, John, of Florida and his sister-in-law Bonnie Navarette Gordon of West Hartford and her husband, Steve Gordon.
Art was a wonderful husband and father who had a great sense of humor and the highest integrity. He was a true friend to both humans and all animals. He will be greatly missed.
