Antonia (Muller) Gradoia, 53, of Oxford, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Friday, February 26, 2021, after a brave battle with ALS.
Toni was born to Herbert and Almuth Muller in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on June 16, 1967. Her father’s diplomatic service brought the family to the United States during the Ford and Carter administrations where she grew up in Maryland before moving to Chile in 1979. In 1983, the family relocated to Connecticut, where Toni attended Shelton High School. She went on to work at Subway World Headquarters (Doctors Associates) in Milford for 32 years.
Toni was known for her bright blue eyes, infectious smile, compassionate spirit, quick wit, and unique sense of humor. Toni had the ability to turn anyone and everyone she met into a friend. She loved to be out in nature whether it be camping, gardening, on a beach, or fishing. She loved her annual visits to Cape Cod with her family. She was an animal lover. Next to her dogs, turtles and goats were high on her list. Toni particularly enjoyed watching the hummingbirds visit the feeders she set out in her backyard. She was a big music fan and attended many concerts over the years, Tom Petty being one of her favorites. Toni was a great coworker, friend, aunt, sister and daughter but above all she was a loving and devoted mother and wife to her children Sandra and Matthew and husband Mark.
Toni is survived by her mother Almuth, husband Mark, daughter Sandra, son Matthew, sisters Zita, Kristin (John), Victoria (Rob), Karen (Rich) and brothers Martin, Luis Felipe (Maggie), and Julian (Lisa), mother-in-law Eleanor Gradoia, brother-in-law Michael (Christine) Gradoia, brother-in-law Eric (Sandra) Gradoia and many nieces and nephews who often referred to her as “Auntie Sugar”.
She is predeceased by her father Herbert Muller and father-in-law Mario Gradoia.
At Toni’s request, her life will be celebrated later in the year in a private service with family.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to RVNAhealth and Hospice for their compassionate care, the great folks at On The Mend in Southbury, all those that visited, brought food for the family, and all well wishers.
In lieu of worldly offerings the family asks that donations be made in Toni’s name to the Connecticut Chapter of the ALS Association or The Team Gleason Foundation.
