Annamarie McCabe passed away peacefully after a brief illness at 78 years old on July 17, 2023. Ann was born in Switzerland on October 31, 1944 and during her childhood loved to play the accordion. She immigrated with her family to the US in 1957 and lived in Waterbury where she graduated from Crosby High School. She then went on to a long career as a respiratory therapist at Waterbury Hospital where she was beloved and respected by her patients, their families and coworkers. She was known as someone who was thorough, trustworthy and cared deeply for her patients. Ann was an avid beachgoer and traveler spending summers at Hammonassett State Park and having explored nearly all of Europe. Ann was an incredibly generous person always putting others first and she cared deeply for her family and friends. It seemed as though everywhere she went she knew someone or someone would come up to her to say hello. This was typically either from her time working at Waterbury Hospital or volunteering with the American Lung Association. She loved a glass of red wine on a sunny day, and listening to music outside, preferably Nana Mouskouri or Van Morrison. Out on the patio is where you could be sure to find her in warmer months. She will be greatly missed by her family. She was predeceased by her son Darrin McCabe and parents Berta and Adolf Lemp. She is survived by her siblings Suzanne Shanahan, Jay Moore, George Lemp and Yvonne Bogue as well as nieces Kaitlyn Franco, Felicia Marchese and Tammy Moore. And nephew Jarrod Bogue.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday August 19 at 10:30am at St James Lutheran Church in Southbury.
