Annamae (Platt) Hardwick, 99 of Middlebury, died April 30, 2020 at the Middlebury Convalescent Home. Her first husband, Clarence E. Pierce, was killed in action in WWII. Her second husband, Frederick N. Hardwick, died on March 3, 2014.

Mrs. Hardwick was born April 19, 1921 in Waterbury, daughter of the late Harry and Hulda (Wilson) Platt. She resided in Middlebury for over 65 years. She was a registered nurse who taught obstetrics and gynecology at the Waterbury Hospital for many years. She was associated with the Waterbury Hospital Alumnae organization, the Board of Directors of the Girls Club, the Middlebury Library Board, and a girl scout leader. She enjoyed gardening and knitting, and was an avid bridge player. She was a member of AFS Bridge and the Stitch and Bitch Group, and was a very active member of the Middlebury Congregational Church.

She is survived by her son, Byron E. Pierce and his wife Dorothy of Middlebury, two daughters, Dorian Platt Hardwick of Cambridge, MA and Debra Nelson Hardwick-Witman of Portsmouth, NH, four grandchildren, Byron Ethan Pierce and fiancée Rebecca Jane Prete of W. Hartford, Brett Eric Pierce and wife Kristina of Southbury, Elias Drew Hardwick-Witman of Boston, MA and Haley Nelson Hardwick-Witman of Providence, RI and three great granddaughters, Alana Eve Pierce, Chloe Mae Pierce of Southbury, and Ruby Grace Pierce of W. Hartford.

She was predeceased by a brother, Chester A. Platt and a sister Vivian Emma Tarbox.

Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. The Woodbury Funeral Home of Munson-Lovetere, 2 School St. is in charge of the arrangements.
