Southbury- Mrs. Angelina “Angie” (Cafaro) McAvoy, 84, of Heritage Village died on August 24, 2021. The wife of the late Jay J. McAvoy, Mrs. McAvoy was born on Staten Island, NY, daughter to the late Joseph and Marie (Battipaglia) Cafaro.
Mrs. McAvoy graduated from New Dorp High School, and after her marriage resided in Danbury, New Milford, and since 2001 in Southbury. She retired as receptionist from the office of Dr. Peter Anderson in 2000. Mrs. McAvoy had previously worked at the American Red Cross and the YMCA in New Milford. She taught religious education at St. Francis Xavier in New Milford and was a communicant of Sacred Heart in Southbury.
Mrs. McAvoy leaves four sons, Shaun M. McAvoy, Kevin P. McAvoy. Darren J. McAvoy, and Christopher J. McAvoy, a brother, Anthony Cafaro, six grandchildren, Brendhan, Shannon, Caitlin, Liam, Teagan, and Devon, and three great-grandchildren, Emily, Andrew, and Isabella.
Funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday August 27, 2021 at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church in Southbury. Burial will be private. Calling hours will be held at the Munson-Lovetere Funeral Home, 235 Main St. N. Southbury, CT 06488 on Thursday, August 26, 2021 from 4 to 6 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief, Western CT/Danbury Chapter, 2 Terrace Place, Danbury, CT 06810.
